NSBA Conference registration opens

Registration is open for the 2018 conference of the National School Board Association (NSBA), to be held April 7-9, 2018, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

“Be Extraordinary,” the 2018 conference theme, “highlights inspirational individuals from all walks of life, pioneers in their respective fields, who made extraordinary contributions to society. … School board members make extraordinary contributions to our country by helping shape the leaders of tomorrow.”

NSBA represents state school boards associations and their more than 90,000 local school board members. Each year, Illinois is represented at the national conference, as presenters and participants, by school board members, other district representatives, and IASB staff. As was the case last year, in 2018 the focus areas for over 250 scheduled educational events will include
  • Advocacy
  • Governance and Executive Leadership
  • Innovations in District Management
  • Master Class (innovative approaches to improve student achievement)
  • New School Board Member Workshops
  • School Board/Superintendent Partnerships
  • Student Achievement and Accountability
  • Study Halls (interactive 30-minute sessions led by experts and their school district clients)
  • Technology + Learning Solutions

Keynote speakers for 2018 include legendary NFL quarterback and current FOX NFL analyst Terry Bradshaw. The NSBA bills its conference as “the one national event that brings together education leaders at a time when domestic polices and global trends are combining to shape the future of the students. Join us in San Antonio for a robust offering of over 250 educational programs, including three inspirational general sessions that will give you new ideas and tools to help drive your district forward.”
