November referenda deadlines near

Boards of education have a few more weeks to place tax and bond referenda on the ballot for the Nov. 8 general election. Specifically, school boards need to adopt a resolution on or before Aug. 22 in order to place such a finance referendum or other public policy question on the November ballot (10 ILCS 5/28-2). And Sep. 1st is the last day for the school board secretary to certify public policy questions to the election authority for referendum at the Nov. 8 election (10 ILCS 5/28-5).
